Women have been defying and bending gender norms for generations. Going as far back as Joan of Arc, Coco Chanel to Diane Keaton, Anna May Wong in a top hat and suit and Amelia Earhart and so many more have become iconic for putting on pants. When you really think about it, this is pretty badass as women were still getting arrested for wearing pants in the 1930s.
Menswear has been progressing and evolving at a Speedy Gonzales rate, and it only makes sense that women have taken an interest and want a piece of the action as well. The allure of rich hearty fabrics, careful construction, functionality and comfort is hard to ignore. Fashion is now all about expression and unchained self-expression, unencumbered by gender norms.
This editorial honours the aforementioned women and women of all walks of life. This is an ode to all the women we love, aspire to be and celebrate every day. What a time to be alive. *Drake voice.
